MOLCA Supports ITS and PT Pelindo to Win 6 Awards in Taiwan

ITS Campus, ITS News – Maintaining its commitment to proactive innovation, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has once again demonstrated remarkable success on the international stage. This time, through the collaborative efforts of ITS Kedaireka Matching Fund (MF) and PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (TPK), six prestigious awards were secured at the 2023 Kaohsiung International Invention and Design Expo (KIDE) in Taiwan.

Dr. Adithya Sudiarno, Chairman of MF Kedaireka ITS x PT Pelindo TPK, elucidated that MF Kedaireka is a program initiated by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). "Under this program, universities join forces with the Business and Industrial Sector (DUDI) to address challenges encountered by DUDI partners," explained the lecturer from the ITS Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering (DTSI).

Within this framework, ITS collaborated with PT Pelindo TPK to devise technology aimed at enhancing employee training to identify potential hazards in their work environment. Seven ITS lecturers and 12 ITS DTSI students participated as researchers in this technology development endeavor. The outcomes of this collaboration were presented by the ITS and PT Pelindo TPK teams at KIDE 2023, a three-day event commencing from November 30th.

Adith, as he is commonly known, revealed that at KIDE 2023, MF Kedaireka ITS x PT Pelindo TPK showcased two innovations among 398 entries from 30 countries. "These innovations include K3I.verse, competing in the Educational Item category, and Bandar Safety, competing in the Information Communication Technology and Media category," stated the lecturer at the DTSI ITS Ergonomics and Work Systems Design (EPSK) Laboratory.

Elaborating on each innovation, Adith delineated that K3I.verse is a metaverse-based technology for hazard identification, serving as a training platform for PT Pelindo TPK employees. This innovation clinched three awards at KIDE 2023: the Platinum Award from the World Invention Intellectual Property Associations (WIIPA), the Gold Medal from the President of the International Jury of KIDE 2023, and the Special Award from ALROSA, a Russian company.

On the other hand, Bandar Safety is a web-based application ecosystem housing diverse tools to manage risks in work environments. Similar to K3I.verse, this innovation garnered three accolades at KIDE 2023: the Silver Medal from WIIPA, the Special Award from the Korea University Invention Association (South Korea), and the Special Award from the Highly Innovative Unique Foundation (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia).

In light of these achievements, Adith expressed hopes for the continuous development and societal impact of these innovations. Furthermore, he acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders behind this success. Adith extended his gratitude to all involved parties, including the Ministry of Education and Culture; PT Pelindo TPK; ITS Directorate of Innovation, Cooperation and Science Technology (DIKST); ITS DTSI; ITS EPSK Laboratory; East Java Province Occupational Health and Safety (K3) Council, and Bramunastya ITS Team.
